The work goes on.
Now all the seats are ready to go, all I have to do is get the carpet kit installed and finish the front seat rails for the passenger side.
The seats were upgraded to Pony seats with new foam cushions. I sand blasted the frames and repainted them before getting them recovered.
I installed the exhaust pipe and muffler while I was under the car connecting the emergency brake cables.

Mustang update
With most of the wiring completed I was able to test it by powering it up with a battery charger. So far it is working.
The wiring is almost complete and the instrument cluster is ready to go in.
All the wiring was replaced with with a new wiring harness from Painless. Now that took some time to get all the wires to the correct places but it was worth the work.
The cardboard trunk divider was replaced with a steel divider to provide some protection in the event of a rear end collision.

The 289 Before and After
New Paint Job
We chose a light blue even though it was not a factory color for Ford in 1965. This is how it looked when we got it back from the paint shop.
Now the challenge of getting all the parts back in the correct place. I started with the steering and suspension, everything was replaced or rebuilt. It took quite a while to get all the dirt, oil, and grease off the parts that were going to be rebuilt. I think the easiest thing to do would have been to replace everything but what would be the fun in that.
First Post on the Blue Mustang
We bought this 1965 Mustang from my moms cousin a few years ago and after driving it for a while we decided to restore it. I got some estimates to have the work done and found that most of the estimates were for some body work and a new paint job and I was interested in a complete restoration.
I removed all the parts from the car and replaced a portion of the left rear fender before taking the car to a shop to have it soda blasted and the body work done before having it painted. Once it was painted I brought it back to the house to do the reassembly. It has been almost two years and the reassembly is still going on.
